Thursday, January 6

9:30 a.m. — Multnomah County Commissioners Board Meeting

Multnomah County Commissioners board meetings are broadcast live on YouTube. The agenda for Thursday’s meeting is online and includes the second reading for adopting the new districting plan for commissioner districts.

10:30 a.m. — Metro Council Meeting

Metro Council meetings are conducted on Zoom. The agenda for Thursday’s meeting is online and includes multiple resolutions concerning Metro’s funding for the Interstate 5 Bridge Replacement project.

2 p.m. — Portland Executive Session on the Department of Justice Settlement Addendum

Executive sessions are not broadcast or recorded. This meeting will likely cover updates to the Department of Justice’s 2014 consent decree regarding police brutality, given that the DOJ notified the city of Portland of compliance failures in 2021.

6:30 p.m. — White Supremacy in Oregon: History and Current Issues

PUGS is offering a six-week class on White supremacy in Oregon, starting Thursday. A course outline is available on the PUGS website. Enrollment fees are on a sliding scale, starting at $70.

Tuesday, January 11

10:30 a.m. — Metro Council District 6 Vacancy Public Hearing

Metro’s public hearings are conducted on Zoom. This hearing will include interviews of candidates to fill the District 6 vacancy through the beginning of 2023. The Metro Council is expected to vote on candidates during the meeting. Members of the public can request to testify or attend in person.

12 p.m. — Metro 2022 Investment and Innovation Program Grants Information Session

Metro is hosting an information session on grants to support local efforts to better manage waste, including improving inequalities in local waste management. Attendees must register in advance for the session, which will take place on Zoom. For-profit businesses, non-profit organizations, and institutions of higher learning are eligible for grants.

6 p.m. — Multnomah County Charter Review Committee Meeting

Multnomah County Charter Review Committee meetings are held on Zoom. The agenda for this meeting is online and includes planning committee work for 2022. Members of the public can submit comments on the charter review process in writing.

6 p.m. — Portland Charter Commission Listening Session

Portland Charter Commission meetings are held on Zoom. The agenda for this meeting is online and primarily provides time for commission members to hear from Portland residents on issues related to the city charter. Attendees must register in advance for the session. Another listening session will be held on Jan. 22.

6 p.m. — Portland Public Schools District Board Meeting

Portland Public Schools board meetings are broadcast on YouTube. The agenda for this meeting is not online at the time of writing but may include updates on COVID-19 safety measures and negotiations with the Portland Association of Teachers.
