Thursday, March 24
12:00 p.m. — Strike at Artifact: Creative Recycle
Workers at Artifact: Creative Recycle will hold strike actions Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. They’re asking that the store’s owners put anti-discrimination policies into place, provide equal pay for equal work, and otherwise create a fair workplace. The striking workers also have a crowdfunding campaign to cover lost wages as a result of Artifact’s lockout and subsequent strike.
6:00 p.m. — Online screening of Agritopia
West Seattle Meaningful Movies, along with other organizations, is hosting an online screening of the documentary Agritopia. The film examines the Kailash Ecovillage in Portland’s Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood, which provides a coliving space for 55 people as well as a food forest. There will be a panel and community discussion following the film, all held through Zoom. The film is also available to watch independently.
7:00 p.m. — City of Portland Police Accountability Commission Meeting
The Police Accountability Commission, which is responsible for developing a new oversight system for the Portland Police Bureau, will discuss draft bylaws covering the commission’s work, as well as a framework for community engagement (time permitting). An agenda for the meeting is online and includes time for public comment. The meeting will be held on Zoom.
Friday, March 25
DEADLINE — Public comments on changes to the Portland City Auditor’s public records requests
The public comment period on rule changes proposed by the Portland City Auditor ends at 5:00 p.m. The changes would update ADM-8.03, which guides public records requests made to the auditor’s office. The changes include guidelines for submitting public records requests. Here’s a comparison of the existing rules and the proposed changes.
Saturday, March 26
12:30 p.m. — Rally for union recognition
The International Association of Machinist & Aerospace Workers Local W24 is cohosting a rally to support workers asking for union recognition from their employers. The rally will start at Jim Fisher Volvo on West Burnside, where mechanics have filed a petition for a union election and are facing union-busting efforts. From there, attendees will march about two blocks to Starbucks on West Burnside, where baristas have filed for a union election. You can support two unionization efforts in one go at this event!
3:00 p.m. — Canvassing for Eviction Representation for All
The Eviction Representation for All campaign is collecting signatures to ensure their measure is on the ballot in Multnomah County. They’re looking for volunteers to canvass for signatures at the Really Really Free Market at Gateway Discovery Park. Even if you’re not able to volunteer to canvass for signatures, show up and sign — and check out the Really Really Free Market while you’re at it. The ERA campaign will also have a canvassing event on Sunday at the Montavilla Farmer’s Market.
Sunday, March 27
CLOSING — Feeling Documents: A Liberated Archives Experience
Don’t Shoot Portland’s multimedia installation of showcasing a timeline of artistry and politics using social trends, music, art and culture to promote each of their intersections to social justice closes on Sunday. The installation is part of the the University of Oregon Center for Art Research (CFAR) program series HABITS OF DENIAL. The exhibit can be seen at Holding Contemporary Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attendees are asked to schedule an appointment to view the exhibit to help the gallery manage the number of people in the space at one time.

DEADLINE — Submissions to Rose City Radical
Rose City Radical, a cooperatively produced newspaper here in Portland, is seeking submissions for their fourth issue on the topic of “Bloom or Bust.” Past issues are available online.
Wednesday, March 30
8:00 a.m. — Warm Springs Tribal elections
The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will hold their election for tribal council with voting at the Warm Springs Community Center from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Off-reservation voters have missed the cutoff date to mail in absentee ballots, but there are drop boxes for absentee ballots at the Tribal Administration Building in the Vital Stats department, at Three Warriors Market in Simnasho and at the Seekseequa Fire Hall. 5:00 p.m. — Resisting the Global Threat of Fascism and Conspiracy Theory
The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education is hosting a conversation between Talia Lavin, author of Culture Warlords: My Journey into the Dark Web of White Supremacy and Shane Burley, author of Why We Fight: Essays on Fascism, Resistance, and Surviving the Apocalypse. The discussion will be held on Zoom and attendees must register in advance.

March 31 — Application deadline for Portland Water Bureau lead hazard reduction grants
The Portland Water Bureau is offering grants for community education and outreach around lead hazards in the area for projects running through June 30, 2023. The application requires a grant proposal narrative and an itemized budget.
